DIY Baking Powder

Here's the deal, I'm no wizard in the kitchen - although, there always seems to be a bang of smoke. But, I'm good for a couple of basics, and I love finding ways to reduce the impact on my wallet and the environment. Since I use a bit of baking powder in my kitchen adventures, I was happy to discover how easy it was to make your own. Best discovery of 2020.

1 part baking soda

2 parts organic cream of tartar

It's that easy. Example: 1/4 cup baking soda and 1/2 cup cream of tartar. I usually do it in tablespoon parts until my jar is full-ish.

I buy both ingredients in bulk to save on packaging. Then, I mix it into a small mason jar, so I don't have to make baking power every time. I use a spoon to stir it up a bit, but if you're that extra-thorough type, whisk away.
